Georgia WIC is here for you and will make every effort to provide during this time of need.

WIC Clinic Operations

Will you remain open?

Currently, we plan to remain open, but guidance has been changing rapidly at the state and federal level.

Is it safe to come into the health center?

Our policy is to clean and sanitize the clinic at least twice daily and complete our normal cleaning nightly. Remember to keep 6 feet from others and do not bring any extra family or friends to the health center. We are currently minimizing contact by waiving signatures at this time.

I do not feel safe bringing my child. What should I do?

At this time, we are not requiring physical presence for children. We can waive the weight/height/length and hemoglobin. We will need a parent or guardian to be physically present for certification appointments but not the child.

Will I be notified if you close?

We have not made a decision to close. We have no current plans regarding individual notification. Check our website or our Facebook or Twitter page for more information.

Can I transfer WIC from another district or state?

Yes, but you may have a wait at the clinic because of short clinic staff and appointments. Please bring your WIC ID folder/documents, ID, and any unused vouchers.

WIC Vouchers

Alert all Georgia WIC participants – You must have your signed WIC ID folder to use your WIC vouchers in a store.  Please call 1-800-228-9173 if you have any questions about this requirement.

Alerta a todos los participantes de WIC de Georgia: debe tener su carpeta de identificación de WIC firmada para usar sus cupones WIC en una tienda. Llame al 1-800-228-9173 si tiene alguna pregunta sobre este requisito.

What will happen to the vouchers I cannot pick up if you close?

We are working on a solution in case this situation occurs, please verify your phone number and address so that we can contact you if we need to.

Can I pick up my vouchers earlier than scheduled?

If you are scheduled to pick up vouchers within a month of contacting us, you can pick up your vouchers but they will be dated with your regularly scheduled pick up time.

Can I change date on vouchers to pick up early?

No. There is a state policy against this.

Will I be penalized by WIC if I choose not to come in at this time?

You may pick up your vouchers within one month of your scheduled time and still receive benefits for that month. You can also complete nutrition education and request to have your vouchers mailed for a 2-month period if your clinic is doing so.

WIC Nutrition Services

I cannot locate formula, milk or food in the stores. What should I do?

If you have problems redeeming vouchers, talk to the store manager or a store customer-service representative. Try an alternate store or call 1-800-228-9173 to get more information. Georgia is currently allowing substitutions of any brand and fat content for regular milk on vouchers, but not flavored milk. Download approved substitutions in English or Spanish.

I cannot get an appointment within 10 days.

Currently, the state has granted a blanket processing standards extension for pregnant and breastfeeding women and infants for 15 days. We are not experiencing long wait times to get appointments.

Do I need to bring a new prescription for formula?

If you currently have one on file, we may be able to extend it.

Can I get a breast pump?

Yes, you can get a breast pump if you qualify. We will need to evaluate the circumstance. Please email Dannah.Burch@gnrhealth.com or call 678-906-7436.

How do I complete my nutrition or breastfeeding class?

You can complete online nutrition education at www.gawiconline.org or over the phone with a nutrition staff member. Contact Rachel.Hankinson@gnrhealth.com to receive information about completing a virtual breastfeeding class.
